1. Nov 24,  · Legendary Harry Nilsson 3 CD set from BMG sounds bad too. Very hissy and over EQ'ed like it's from higher generation tapes too. I got mine for $11 new at Best Buy. That should've told me the quality was going to be bad.

This MOV edition of Nilsson's classic (and, IMO, his best) 'Schmilsson' LP, released in '71 with HN at the peak of his vocal powers (before drink ravaged his vocal cords and, ultimately, his life) is a 5-star, pristine-sounding pressing that is easily the sonic equal of the original US "Dyna-Flex" RCA edition (good luck finding one of those in mint condition)/5().

Harry Nilsson, at the time best known for his hit "Everybody's Talkin'" and for composing "One", recorded by Three Dog Night, heard Badfinger's recording of "Without You" at a party, and mistook it for a Beatles song. After realising it was not, he decided to cover the song for his album Nilsson Schmilsson. RCA released the single in the autumn of , first charting on radio stations.

6. As for Harry Nilsson - the world is a poorer place without his singing talents. His vocal control and emotion is spot on and considering that the album was released when Glam-rock was all the rage - it was a brave move when this album hit the market - but it sold rather well by all accounts/5().

7. I have all of Harry's albums in vinyl and then re-purchased them in the CD format, but this is the best, most eclectic and definitive sampling of his musical catalog. Nilsson was fabulous and is so under-appreciated today, though I can't figure out why. His voice is timeless and his songs are treasures.5/5(1).
